With over 25 years of experience in the food industry, primarily with perishable products, Andrew’s involvement in the industry has spanned 5 continents.

Andrew is the Director & Owner of ‘freshXpressions’, a Management Solutions and Consulting firm that helps senior executives unlock growth opportunities through the lens of sustainable business practices.
Since starting his career with Unilever South African over 25 years ago, he has been involved in the food industry, primarily with perishable products such as cooking oil, bread spreads, cheese, fruit juices, ice cream and fresh produce. This involvement has spanned five continents, with particular emphasis on North America, Middle East, and Asia.
Over his career, Andrew has held positions in sales, key account management, marketing, business development, procurement and general management, dealing with growers, manufacturers, shippers, packers, logistics providers, co-op boards, government departments, retailers, and consumers. You could say he understands food from farm to fork very well.
Andrew is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (South Africa), with a B.Bus.Sc (Bachelor of Business Science degree –majoring in Marketing, Economics, and Psychology), as well as EMBA in Advanced Management Practices from the UCT Graduate School of Business.
In 1993 when sanctions were lifted on South Africa, Andrew was appointed Export Manager at Unifruco Ltd. for all South African deciduous fruit to markets outside of Europe. Within seven years, he was instrumental in opening up the Middle East, Far East, Canada, USA, and Mexico as new opportunity destinations. In this role, Andrew developed a full understanding of what it takes to manage an export program in its entirety.
During the late 1990’s Andrew was very involved in the merger of Unifruco and Outspan International to form Capespan International and position the new company to compete in a deregulated export environment.
By 2000, he helped Capespan International with the purchase of Fisher Brothers Inc. and moved to North America where he took on the role of VP Business Development until 2008.
In May 2008, Andrew started ‘freshXpressions’ and positioned the firm to help support resource depleted management teams achieve their growth goals after the Mortgage Crisis Meltdown.
Today Andrew offers clients cutting-edge thinking, tools, and practices in relation to building more sustainable and profitable businesses.
This includes the development of a sustainable business strategy, building sustainable brands, identify initiatives to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and effectively communicate CSR (II) as core to the future success of the company and understand what a ‘green supply chain’ needs to look like.
